"How do I get first place in every race?"
You are not always going to place first in every race. It is just life! Sometimes you have to win, sometimes you have to lose. There is no strategy to coming first every time. It is mainly about how well you race. If you get to know the courses beforehand, you will be more prepared for sudden corners or unexpected things along the way. Always play at least 7 Time Trials for the courses you want to race for in Grand Prix, because it helps if you know the courses really well. This will also help you to discover any short cuts that could be of some of use to you!
"Why do the other racers seem to be faster than me when I play 100cc and 150cc?"
It is not because the racers are the faster than you. It is because of the type of Kart and wheels you choose. Karts and wheels with lower handling are generally more difficult to control on a trickier race course unless you know how to work them, but the speed is mostly higher than if you choose a higher handling option that is easy to control. The computers generate their Karts and wheels randomly so it is just a coincidence if the computer players have more speed than you. You know that by choosing 100cc or 150cc that the competition is getting tougher, so you must know you need to be prepared for a harder chance of winning than if you were playing a basic 50cc Cup.
"Why do the computer players always make things unfair for me?"
The computer players are not controlled by real people. You, as the only human playing on the Grand Prix, are going to be slightly different! It isn't because they are making things unfair for you by mainly making you the target of equipped items, it is because you are the only player with a brain - making things easy for you every time is hardly going to motivate you in for the challenge as there won't be one! You will be coming first every time and it may seem ideal but it will get boring! Where is the thrill in just racing a track without anything trying to stop you or slow you down? You will notice that you're not the only character getting hit by shells and slipping on banana peels!
"Why can't I play as my favourite character?"
Probably because you haven't unlocked it! Take time and patience in perfecting your game and then slowly build up the speed of your Grand Prix! Start off by 50cc and see what you can unlock, then move up to 100cc when you are confident on that and then finally 150cc when you have mastered both 50cc and 100cc. If you explore the different things you can unlock you will eventually be able to play as your favourite character, providing that character is part of the game, because your character might not be available in every single Mario Kart game if s/he is not a main character like Mario, Luigi, Peach or Bowser for example!
If you have a FAQ you would like an answer to, then please leave a comment below so I can add it to this list! I will keep updating it as more questions come in!

Mario Kart 7: Grand Prix & Time Trials Part 2
There are 2 different types of Cup you can compete for in Grand Prix Mode. There is the Nitro Cups (when you play a Nitro Cup it is known as a Nitro Grand Prix) and Retro Cups (same for this type of Cup only it is known as a Retro Grand Prix) and there isn't a big difference but I will let you in on how to tell the difference if it isn't already totally obvious to you!
Nitro Cups (Nitro Grand Prix)
Mushroom Cup
Flower Cup
Star Cup
Special Cup
Retro Cups (Retro Grand Prix)
Shell Cup
Banana Cup
Leaf Cup
Lightning Cup
You will probably have noticed that the Nitro Cups are all on the top row of Cups you can race for, and the Retro Cups are underneath. This makes no difference to you when you're racing. You also might have noticed that on the Nitro Cups the race course names are just plain but on the Retro Cups they have small writing before the names of the courses. The writing looks something like this:
(N64)
(GBA)
(Wii)
(DS)
(GCN)
(SNES)
This doesn't affect anything, and a race course with that sign next to it will not be any different to a race course without.
Here is a list of race courses featured in the Retro Grand Prix and how to tell their symbols apart:
Courses with N64:
Luigi Raceway (Shell Cup)
Koopa Troopa Beach (Banana Cup)
Kalimari Desert (Leaf Cup)
Courses with GBA:
Bowser Castle 1 (Shell Cup)
Courses with Wii:
Mushroom Gorge (Shell Cup)
Coconut Mall (Banana Cup)
Maple Treeway (Leaf Cup)
Koopa Cape (Lightning Cup)
Courses with DS:
Luigi's Mansion (Shell Cup)
Waluigi Pinball (Banana Cup)
DK Pass (Leaf Cup)
Airship Fortress (Lightning Cup)
Courses with SNES:
Mario Circuit 2 (Banana Cup)
Rainbow Road (Lightning Cup)
Courses with GCN:
Daisy Cruiser (Leaf Cup)
Dino Dino Jungle (Lightning Cup)
Nitro Cups (Nitro Grand Prix)
Mushroom Cup
Flower Cup
Star Cup
Special Cup
Retro Cups (Retro Grand Prix)
Shell Cup
Banana Cup
Leaf Cup
Lightning Cup

Mario Kart 7: Grand Prix & Time Trials Part 1
When playing Time Trials, it allows you to choose a character out of the list of characters available to you and also select a kart, wheels and glider. You can then choose a race course out of the cups you have unlocked and you are timed racing 3 laps of the course you have chosen with no racers other than yourself. You can either race a Ghost Data from a previous Time Trial you have completed for that course, or race a Ghost Data of a Nintendo staff member. It is very simple!
Grand Prix is a little different though! You become one of 8 racers and you can choose from either Mushroom, Flower, Shell and Banana Cups to start with. You race against the other characters but they are controlled by a computer, you are not racing against real people!
The Grand Prix and Time Trials Modes for Mario Kart 7 are basically the same as the ones for Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii.
Once you have successfully obtained first place in all 4 races for the Flower Cup, you will unlock the Star Cup and after obtaining first place in Star Cup you will then unlock Special Cup. This is the same for Banana Cup and Leaf Cup. When you come first place in Banana Cup you unlock Leaf Cup and after coming first in Leaf Cup you unlock the Lightning Cup. Then you will have unlocked every Cup available on that particular speed (speeds will be explained later).
See Mario Kart 7: Grand Prix & Time Trials Part 2 for more information on this!
